What information do you have?
Choose everything you can find on the machine. The more you have, the more precisely the register can place it — but one good identifier is often enough.
How confident is a result?
Every identification on this site carries a confidence level, and the reasoning behind it is shown rather than hidden.
- High — your engine family number or model designation matched a single certificate in the federal record. That is your machine's own filing.
- Medium — the input narrowed things to a manufacturer or a small set of certificates, but not to one machine. A VIN prefix lands here, because it names the company that registered the code rather than necessarily the engine builder.
- Low — a brand name alone. 139 of the 341 brands on record changed factory at least once, so a badge does not identify a machine.
What this tool will never do
It will not tell you that a part fits. The certification record covers engines and emissions; it says nothing about which supplier made the CDI unit, the variator or the brake shoes, and Chinese assemblers change those between production runs.
